Online Dress Up Games: Not Just For Fun
Do you remember playing with paper dolls? The book that had dolls and clothes made of thin cardboard and that wouldn’t take much room when you were done. That was before computers. Today, we have a different approach: online dress up games.
There are many different websites that offer online dress up games.
Most of these websites have a variety of activities for children, not just dress up games. Many offer games that include cooking, dancing, music, decorating a room, different games, and some with color pages.
The websites that have online dress up games offer many similarities to traditional paper dolls. However, when children are done playing with the online dress up games, there is no mess. There are many different themes of “dolls” they can dress up. Some of the themes include wedding day, folk costumes, sports, fairies, holiday themes, and even military uniforms.
With the simple click of a mouse, they can change make up, hairstyles, clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, and backgrounds. (Also, much more fun than traditional paper dolls, the games often animate the character for the girls to dress up). In addition to being fun, it is a way for children to learn how to use the computer.
The games expose children to different career possibilities. The decorating can give them a beginning sense of interior decorating, the cooking games a beginning sense of culinary arts, and of course the dress up games a sense of fashion.
These websites can be played by preschool children and older. There are so many different games, that when they are done with one application, they always have more on the same website to play. My child’s favorite site in our bookmarks, so it is ready for her to play when she wants, yet offers a parental control factor.
